80th Anniversary Vision
Isaiah 61:3
“…to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor.”
Growing Deeper After 80 Years
Meetinghouse Church was founded 80 years ago on what was formerly an oak savannah. And like the Oak Tree,
- We have grown deep roots
- We have extended our branches outward
- We have multiplied through scattered seeds
We have seen that in:
- Families being formed and sustained in their faith
- Ministries and nonprofits that have grown out of this community
- Partnerships and transformation extending globally
Biblical Foundation
Now as we look towards the next 80 years, we seek to draw from this story, and continue to grow with Jesus towards our shared future. When Jesus began his public ministry, He read from Isaiah 61—a passage describing the coming Messiah.
It speaks of:
- good news for the poor
- healing for the brokenhearted
- freedom for the captive
- comfort for those who mourn
- beauty instead of ashes
- praise instead of despair
Those restored are called: “oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord.”
A Shared Story
For 80 years, this community has reflected that vision.
Like an oak:
- roots grown deep
- branches extended outward
- seeds multiplied over time
This has taken shape in:
- families formed and sustained in faith
- ministries and nonprofits that have grown out of this community
- partnerships and influence extending globally, especially in Africa

Oaks of righteousness—still being planted.
